{Recipe} Rose Sugar Scrub

I don't know about you, but the change of seasons always reeks havoc on my skin and dries it out so badly. I'm always searching for the best thing to use...I think I've found it! I love using a moisturizing scrub all over my body at least twice a week but haven't found one (chemical free) that didn't basically peel my skin off due to it's abrasiveness, or leave my skin still feeling dry and un-moisturized. I took it upon myself to make my own and I will never go back to the store-bought stuff after using it!

I felt like I had to try making my own sugar scrub since, after all, I have sugar by the 25lb. bags and it doesn't get any better than homemade, chemical free beauty products! So I put the girls down for a nap over the weekend and headed into my kitchen to try my first attempt at a really good sugar scrub. I looked at a few recipes online and decided to mix and match recipes for what I felt would work best for my skin. I added a tad less sugar and an extra spoonful of coconut oil and I think my scrub recipe is exactly what my skin needs!

I had an old bouquet of roses that were slowly dying in a vase on my countertop so I decided to make a Rose Scrub and put those sad looking buds to use!

Rose Sugar Scrub Recipe

12 Rose Buds Heads

2 Cups of Sugar

2/3 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil

4 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil

First, I placed all the rose bud petals into my food processor to chop them up. It came out to about 2 cups of tiny crushed rose petals.

Then I added the 2 cups of sugar along with the coconut oil and turned on the food processor for about 15 seconds, intermittently scraping the sides with a spatula to make sure all the sugar and coconut oil was mixed evenly. Lastly, I added 4 drops of Lavender essential oil to give extra fragrance and once again mixed the scrub to make sure everything was evenly distributed.

THAT'S IT! It was literally THAT easy!

I spooned the scrub out of the processor and into a 16 oz jar and it fit perfectly, right to the brim. I LOVE using this scrub; it leaves my skin feeling refreshed, clean and moisturized and I can use it all over my body without any concern of added chemicals.

Did I mention is literally took me less than 10 minutes from start to finish?! SO EASY!

I will never go back to store bought scrub again!
